Mover's Checklist
1. One month before the move:
Notify your property management or landlord about your move.
Start packing non-essential items.
Review the rules and appliance manuals for your new home.
Compare moving services or arrange help.
2. One week before the move:
Plan the cleaning of your old home (DIY or hire a service).
Confirm moving service details and helpers.
Ensure appliances and water valves are turned off in your old home.
Return keys to the old home, if applicable.
3. Moving day:
Pack the moving truck securely to prevent damage.
Protect both your new and old homes from moving damage.
Ensure moving help and equipment (e.g., dollies, straps) are available.
Unpack essential items first in your new home.
Install lighting and connect appliances.
4. After the move:
Submit a change of address to the postal service and any required government authorities.
Notify your employer and other important contacts of your new address.
Update any subscriptions or memberships with your new address.
Arrange new home insurance and utility services (e.g., electricity, gas).
Transfer your internet service.
5. Additional tasks:
Set a moving date and organize necessary equipment.
Rent a storage unit if needed.
In a private house, arrange contracts for waste management and utilities (e.g., water, electricity).
Sort through and get rid of unnecessary items (sell, donate, or recycle).
